Like a lot of people these days, I enjoy keeping abreast of all the latest interiors trends and, of course, have noticed that terrazzo is having a bit of a moment right now. It’s a material that has been around forever and hasn’t always been regarded as particularly cutting edge, but right now its application in some amazing spaces has elevated its status.
With our current renovation, I have been really hesitant to use any materials that are too ‘on trend’ for fear of growing tired of them in a few years. We’re planning to live in this house for a long time, and so I have attempted to stick to a pretty basic palette of monochrome that can act as a backdrop for any trend driven pieces of furniture or art we choose over the years.
However, I couldn’t stop myself entirely. Out of curiosity I ordered some terrazzo samples from Fibonacci Stone and after a few moments of drooling over them, promptly added one to the finishes schedule for the guest bathroom. I think my love of them will outweigh any concerns about them dating (only time will tell!). They have just been laid (but not grouted yet) and I am so happy with how they look so far! So, in honour of that mini milestone in our renovation, today I’m sharing a bit of terrazzo love with you.
